Artist's Statement

My compositions, sometimes a jumble of informal abstraction and realistic representation, portray, often strong, yet vulnerable, models, with a particular intimacy. My practice is drawing based and the paintings are created using oil and mixed media.

A common thread runs throughout my work; an attraction to the often unseen and unnoticed. Unnoticed moments that can either flash or languidly pass before us. Unseen characters that inhabit the spaces and worlds between us. Unnoticed parts of ourselves. These thoughtful pauses occur throughout any average day and often go unnoticed. They lead to observations, realisations or just an appreciation of the moment itself.

The driving force behind all of my work is the persistent effort to find better techniques, through painting and all its possibilities, to convey feelings of fragility, vulnerability and empathy.
