Artist's Statement

My work is a series of figurative portraiture, working mainly with oils. Visually I aim for a balance of observation and unpredicted chaos. My process initially involves improvisation of the subject through digital collage and photographic reference to create a new mockup. To not rely on the original references to define the final outcome of the painting. I assemble a mix of narrative, texture, space and expression to convey the desired atmosphere.
