Artist's Statement
I am an abstract painter whose work is concerned with how our reality is framed. I notice that I see through digital eyes as well through the physical body. Through my painting I navigate this hybrid reality I live in. I use my iPad along side my physical paintings to create digital images. These images exist digitally until they are printed out.
Identity is created fluidly through change and movement. By dismantling and rebuilding form, an image emerges that lives in a state of becoming something or nothing.
My work is informed by Baroque Artists such as Caravaggio and Bernini. Their use of 'Contrapposto' allowed for such a great sense of movement and energy when depicting the figure. I use this method to create contradictory marks to temper my chaotic way of painting.
