Artist's Statement

My themes are often drawn from life experiences that portray stories within landscapes, interiors and portraits. I generate visual images that express emotions and moods combining dream-like realism and eerie subject matter.

Biography

Olwyn Colgan was born in Co.Tyrone, Ireland and is now living in Dublin.

In 2019 she completed a Diploma in Art and Design at NCAD, winning the Bernard Taylor Memorial Award. She graduated with a degree in Fashion and Design at the University of Ulster Belfast in 1995. She then pursued a fashion career in London.

In 2000 she moved back to Ireland and began to move into a fine art tradition studying painting and mixed media, bringing into her work illustration skills but also powerful dynamics from her fashion background, culture and her love of astronomy.
