Gráinne Dowling
Born in Co.Mayo, Grainne now lives and paints from her studio at the edge of the Curragh in Co.Kildare. She graduated with 1st class honours form The Crawford College of Art & Design in Cork in 2007. Drawing upon memory and emotion, Gráinne’s work celebrates the subtlety, nuance, timelessness and fragility of the landscape through intuitive abstraction. Her work has been shown at the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin, the Royal Ulster Academy, Belfast, and The Ballinglen Museum of Art where she recently won an award for her representation of the Mayo landscape. She is represented in Dublin and Belfast by Gormley’s Gallery and regularly shows in various group and juried exhibitions nationwide. Two of these works, 'Folded Land' and 'Rise Up', were recently featured as endpapers in the books 'Small Things Like These' and 'Foster', by Claire Keegan.
