David Hamilton
David Hamilton is an award-winning artist from Northern Ireland who studied at undergraduate and graduate level at the University of Ulster.
He worked extensively throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe as a scenic artist and art director producing themed sets for the entertainment industry, and in 2008 started making his own work. Since then he has been selected for exhibition with The Royal Academy, The Royal Ulster Academy, The Royal Hibernian Academy and The National Gallery Of Ireland in both The Hennessey and Zurich Portrait Prizes, the former of which he was a highly commended winner. Recently he has also exhibited with a new addition to Ireland's thriving arts scene, The Art Riddler. His work has also been long-listed for The John Moore's Painting Prize, The BP Portrait Awards at the National Portrait Gallery London and the Jackson's Painting Prize. In addition he has also been fortunate to win the BBC At Seventy Art Competition and was selected as a contestant on Sky Arts Landscape Artist Of The Year 2023.
